Bookcase With Bench

What do you see when you look at this photo –

a great built-in that houses books, a tv, and pretty knick knacks. But look what else is there – a desk space with a computer and a pull-out bench. I love this! When not in use, the bench is tucked in and the look is seamless. So clever, functional and pretty with that fun pop of color on the upholstered seat.

This is a must-save idea for my family room!

Family Room Inspiration

Hello, perfect family room.

Here's what I love about it – the room is light and bright, filled with neutral furnishings and just a few pops of color. It is pulled together and pretty, yet warm, comfortable and inviting.

There's some clever decorating going on in that room, too. Did you notice the upholstered footstools under the coffee tables? I love that detail!

Pillow Frenzy

Do you remember my favorite spicy red color? Well, my spicy granny chairs have found a happy home at my mom's house and all of a sudden stores are selling a ton of throw pillows featuring that fun, hot red. Because it's so hard to resist a good throw pillow (or 10!), my mom bought a bunch of red as well as black, white, gold, and gray (her go-to decor colors), to spruce things up. We had a great time playing, and I just love how all of these different patterns and textures work together.

Bathroom Styling Obsession

Lately, anything that I see from Wisteria, I absolutely adore. But I have to say that this page from their Winter catalog has become an obsession. I am crazy for the way this bathroom is styled! From the extraordinary mirror, to the subway tile, to the pretty french blue side table—it all looks so, so good! The seagrass and rattan pieces really add a bit of warmth, too.

I think my favorite little detail is the pair of lucite (!) shelves that display those shiny silver bottles. Wisteria sells the bottles (you can find them on sale here, here, and here) but they remind me so much of the silver-painted bottles Jillian spotted at J. Crew a few months back. They are definitely an easy DIY that add a lot of glamour. And who doesn't want a little extra glamour in the bathroom?

A Burst of Blue

We talk a lot about a pop of color. But what if instead of a little pop, you did a big pop? Like, for example, these blue appliances?

And though it's not an appliance, this wallpaper is pretty great as well.

Bold and beautiful, I'm loving these blue accents in the home.

Speaking of Brackets...

Hey everyone, happy Monday!

Sorry I have been MIA for the past few weeks. Things got really crazy with work and then this past week, I was crafting up some lovely items for my sister-in-law's baby shower. I have a few fun projects that I promise to share with you this week!

In the meantime, I wanted to share these awesome bookends that I found on Etsy. Remember those amazing brackets that Jillian found last year? If you loved them as much as I did, check these out!

Aren't they great? I love them in mint green, too. Want to see more whimsical bookends? Check out Design Atelier Article's Etsy shop here!

Leather Pulls

Check out the leather pulls that were featured in this month's House Beautiful magazine.

Aren't they just lovely? Simple, yet cool, I think they would look great on clean-lined cabinetry or on a dresser like Ikea's Malm.

I certainly have enough of those Malms in my house. I think I may give this one a try!

ABC's Christmas Tree Wishes

While in New York City last weekend, I decided to pop into ABC Carpet & Home, and spotted this lovely Christmas tree at the entrance. What makes it so special is that wishes are handwritten on strips of fabric which are then tied to the tree. The effect is so incredibly sweet!

I like to decorate my tree differently each year and I think this is what I want to do this Christmas! I love that it's so wonderfully personal.

Vintage Inspired Flash Cards

I am still in love with the idea of decorating with flash cards (see my posts here and here) and I just found the sweetest vintage-inspired flash card designs while shopping on Etsy last night.

From Gaddie + Tood, these flash cards feature the prettiest little illustrations. I love them the most in this gray color palette. And a touch of glitter is even an option!

Wouldn't these cards be so beautiful displayed in a nursery? They would make a great gift, too! Shop for them here

Pull Up a (Tiny) Chair

My friend went to Mexico last Spring and brought back a copy of the Mexican edition of Casa Viva magazine for me to peruse. I have been holding onto the issue for months because I fell in love with this cover image.

There is something about the way that little child's chair is pulled up to the coffee table that just melts my heart. Kids' furniture incorporated into an adult design scheme is so special and this was done beautifully.

The rest of this home is absolutely gorgeous and features a great blend of different furniture styles and artwork. After all of these months, I am still obsessed with every detail. See for yourself!

A special thanks to Lisa for lending me this lovely magazine...I promise to return it to you on Monday!

Speaking of Nesting...

Last year, I posted a collection of images inspired by the idea of decorating with little bird's nests. I love the idea so much and am still determined to work this concept into my own scheme. While at Terrain last weekend, I saw a different twist on the nesting idea. See the ceiling fixture below?

It's a great big nest!

Pretty and whimsical. Perfect at Terrain...and maybe in your outdoor space?

A Gallery Wall from Schoolhouse Electric

Have you seen the Fall 2013 catalog from Schoolhouse Electric?

It is so, so pretty! I just want to live in the world they have created. (You can check it out for yourself, here!)

Anyway, this spread in the catalog caught my attention because I am always looking to see how stylists create gallery walls. The options are endless and I like to see the things that other people choose to display together, and this one here works so well.

I particularly love the "Let it Go" wall banner in the center. I have been eyeing this piece for awhile and love how it fits in here.

Isn't it so simple and sweet? Check out these other wall banners from artist Ashley Brown Durand

I think these could be the perfect addition to a beautifully-styled gallery.

Cameron Diaz's Manhattan Home

Have you seen the latest issue of Elle Decor? Cameron Diaz's West Village apartment, designed by Kelly Wearstler, is featured and it is magnificent. Her space is glimmering and glamorous, with lots of rosy hues and metallic gold accents.

Gasp! The backsplash, counters, and fixtures in the kitchen (below) are made of unsealed brass. How amazing is that?

Jillian spotted the gold ceiling trend at the beginning of the year, and it looks like she was onto something! Ceilings in both the master bedroom (pictured below) and the guest bedroom (two down) are covered in gold wallpaper. So luxe. And what a nice element to stare at while lying in bed!

Be sure to read the entire article here.

Elle Decor is really amazing this month. For more design goodness, check out these two inspiring spaces: here and here.
