C. Wonder's Lucite Letters

Do you remember those fabulous lucite letters I posted about from Tory Burch? Well, just in time for the holidays, C. Wonder is offering their own versions that are just as stunning...and cheaper!

Adding to their collection, C. Wonder also has this adorable ampersand (for more on my love of the ampersand, see here!),

and for all of you social media lovers, these delightful symbols.

Lots of lucite goodness for the holidays!

Alphabet Bags & Little Pouches

A long time ago, I wrote this post about Alphabet Bags. The picture below is a little reminder of how cute they are.

Things at Alphabet Bags just got a whole lot cuter though, with their latest addition—little canvas pouches featuring great graphics and typography. Feast your eyes on these!

That bright pink heart is so sparkly but I think it would be such a treat to go searching in my bag for lip gloss and find it in this bits & bobs pouch. I mean, it's just so darling! These cuties seem like something Becky Bloomwood would have enjoyed in the Shopaholic book series (she probably would have bought them all!), and that thought just makes me happy.

Wishing you a great weekend! And don't forget that the first Clover Market of 2013 is this Sunday. Hope to see you there!

A Pretty Font from The Land of Nod

Wow! I just received The Land of Nod's latest catalog (September 2012) and it is really, really good.  With gorgeous photos and creative styling, each spread is full of beauty and inspiration. Over the next few weeks, Jillian will post some of her favorite projects inspired by the catalog, but to kick things off I decided to highlight the beautiful layout and graphic design.  I especially find myself obsessed with the gorgeous font used as a headline to introduce each section of the catalog.

It appears to be hand-drawn—incorporating the feel of watercolor, magic markers, and chalk, with adorable swirly touches. The layers and transparency give it a nice softness, too. I can't think of a typeface more fitting for a company that sells such inspired furniture and decor. If you haven't received your catalog in the mail, be sure to check out the online version here. Get ready for lots of design-goodness!

Typography + Fashion = Rebecca Minkoff

We don't often post about fashion here on The Pink Chalkboard but we do like to feature things that make us happy, and these little pouches by Rebecca Minkoff really make me smile. With playful typography and bright bold colors, these bags are so cute, I can imagine carrying a different one each day. Here is a collection of some of her best designs.

Given my love of all things Beatles (like here and here), this little clutch below is my most favorite.

And just for some extra flavor, I had to include this wallet. It just cracks me up.

Who doesn't want a wallet full of "Benjamins"? I hope these make you smile, too.

Six Word Story

"For sale: baby shoes, never worn."

Legend has it that someone bet Ernest Hemingway that he could not write a story using less than ten words. Not only did he win this bet with the six-word story above, but apparently regarded it as his best work. Following this premise, designer Anne Ulku, and writer Van Horgen, collaborated to develop the Six Word Story Every Day project. Van wrote and Anne designed 365 stories in 2010. Their ambitious and incredible work can be found here.

I am inspired by the challenge of this project, with seemingly endless story combinations and unique ways to illustrate them.

Some of the stories are funny...
Many are about broken hearts.

Found his love letters to another.

But some are about love...
Some are thought provoking...

and ironic...

Assembled swingset. One leftover screw.

or just really pretty.

Summer snow: Dandelions in the wind.

I like the happier stories, like this one.

Catching snowflakes on tongue. Spinning. Tree!

The Six Word Story Every Day project was so successful that it didn't simply stop at the end of 2010. Rather, in 2011 the pair featured submissions from designers and writers around the world, all of which can be seen here. You can even purchase selected works from their online shop.

Speaking of Graphic Gray and Yellow...

Inspired by Jillian's gray and yellow post, I found this letterpressed love letter by Sycamore Street Press.

A different take on the theme but so perfectly gray, yellow, and graphic. Isn't this poem sweet? So fitting for Valentine's Day week.
