Artwork for your Graduate

It's graduation season and if your grad likes artwork and loves to travel, I think these letterpressed prints by Amy Rice are a great gift idea. Rice's work offers a fun twist on Dr. Seuss' Oh, the Places You'll Go, and I just love that all of the maps she uses are vintage. See for yourself...

This pin on Pinterest has a great DIY idea for this artwork, too. It reminds me a bit of this map project that I posted last year.

Happy graduation gift giving!

PB Teen

Mindy and I have written before about kids stores/catalogs that have items that would be beautiful in any room and for any age (think Land of Nod, RH Baby & Child, etc). I recently got a coupon for PB Teen and while looking online, found a ton of gorgeous items.

Like this wall decal.

Centered on the wall behind a bed, it would be a traditional and sophisticated detail.

Remember this DIY frame I posted about last year? Check out PB Teen's cable version.

A couple sets of these capiz wire mirrors could make a beautiful 3D cluster behind a living room couch.

And finally, this wallpaper.

Pretty as an accent wall but I'd love to see it in a powder room. With white fixtures and some shiny gold accents, it would look both preppy and luxe.

Just a few favorites from a whole bunch of goodness at PB Teen. Happy shopping!

Pretty Push Pins

My sister-in-law gave me these adorable push pins from Ballard Designs

Aren't they so sweet? I love those Eiffel Towers.

I was going to use them on a corkboard in my office but I haven't had time to start that project and I hate to hide these little beauties in a drawer. So, I thought I would use them to hang some artwork and objects on a gallery wall that I'm currently putting together. Here is a little sneak peek:

It got me thinking about how pretty these little accessories are and how a mix of other styles might add a little more interest to my artwork. Here is a collection of other push pins that I would look great.

Each of these is a little work of art unto itself!

Planting a Rainbow

Have you ever read Lois Ehlert's book, Planting a Rainbow? It's a children's book with the most beautiful cut-paper illustrations. It starts like this:

"Every year, Mom and I plant a rainbow. In the fall, we buy bulbs and plant them in the ground. Then we wait all winter long for spring to warm the soil and sprout the bulbs."

Well, every Mother's Day, my mom and I plant our own rainbow, but usually it's mostly pink and green. Yesterday was planting day...

and today is a happy day. I love seeing the flowers daily while sitting on the porch or even just through the window while going up and down the stairs.

By the way, does the dresser look familiar? Remember when had it decorated for fall and winter (here and here)? This set up is much more pink, green and vibrant. Definitely my favorite so far!

Mom

We are celebrating moms this weekend and we think this card from letterpress company, Moglea, says it best.

Wishing you a wonderful Mother's Day!

Love,
Jillian & Mindy

P.S. Does this loopy handwriting look familiar? Jillian featured one of Moglea's birthday cards for sale at Anthropologie, here

A Bright and Colorful Swedish Home

Interiors like this Swedish home get me every time. Against a backdrop of white walls and glossy black  floors, this large open plan space is accented with bright, bold colors and eclectic furnishings. Happy decorating, indeed.

Note to self: be sure to paint some frames yellow.

Among all of the high end items in this home, did you spot some finds from Ikea? Check out the dining and kitchen tables above—both are from Ikea (although the dining table was a DIY project—painted by the homeowners in two shades of yellow). Love that!

Gold Leaf Coffee Table

The latest Wisteria catalog just introduced me to my new favorite furniture item. This gorgeous gold leaf coffee table.

I want it. And it's so pretty that I want to design a whole room around it.

Alas, it's not in the cards for me now. I just don't need it. But I can't help thinking how lovely it would be in my home. Gold and white is such a great combination.
